…and the days when it snowed, music for speaking voices, music boxes, children's glockenspiel, keyboards, objects and electronics

…and the days when it snowed is a 4 channel sound installation for the exhibition which took place in Lenfilm foyer (St.Petersburg). Here is a 2 channel version of the piece.

This work has been made in connection with poems by Tonino Guerra read by himself and Laura Guerra, his spouse. It is more about their voices sounding than the words meanings. Two languages here makes different phonetically and prosodically, polar (in some way) intonational worlds. And the poems are not the wholes but only some lines, constructing the long interrupted melody, as if we just remembering something, thinking about. It is on memory and present, on intuitive sensation of the Tonino Guerra’s life, poetry, scripts, with no precise references, but with feeling of complex transparency or maybe transparent complexity. Calendar is a suite of small greeting postcards for the exhibition visitors. The whole installation is a composed piece with starting and ending points as much as the 16-minute pattern which might be started or stopped any time, repeated or not. Thanks for Polina Zaslavskaya, artist, and for Xeniya Zernina, curator of the original exhibition.
