The far reaches of space in the Bekoz V rocket had not been our intention that day. My designated task had been the chronicling of our project, but then Ensign Zoyd arrived at mission control with a bottle of Magic Soft fabric conditioner (*other brands are available), and before I knew it, we were on the launchpad watching the countdown. On our return to Earth, although the control panel clearly read 'Touchdown Complete', the door would not open for a further minute. This never ceases to annoy me. Space travel, it seems, is not without its frustrations, though remains necessary. At least once a week...
