After 25 years as what was possibly Europe’s most prolific and well-known solo noise act, Joke Lanz expanded Sudden Infant into a full-fledged band in early 2014. This album is a historic document as it preserves one of Joke’s last solo shows before that transition. Using just portable tape recorders and effects, he creates a surprisingly varied noisescape.

Recorded in Bremen, Germany, on the 29th March, 2014, this set moves from slowly pulsating static sounds to more complex, layered passages. The interesting thing is that this type of noise is convincing not only at high volumes, but leaves enough room for more subdued passages that make the really heavy ones all the more effective.
