This is an album of vintage 1980s industrial music from Augsburg,
Germany, where attenuation circuit is based. As this stuff was truly
underground (and not exposed to large audiences) when it was first
played, we are very happy to be able to give it some contemporary
exposure – not only because our current work in experimental music is
sort of a continuation of what was started back then, but also because it still sounds pretty fresh.

Although the whole industrial thing was well under way since the 1970s, the use of scrap metal and concrete as means of rekindling the punk DIY aesthetic got a big boost in mid-80s Germany thanks to the popularity of Einstürzende Neubauten. SN.D., the ‘sawing dissidents’, also experimented with all sorts of musical and not so musical instruments, cleverly fusing electronics and ‘heavy metal’ plus power tools.
