Blakkr Nið is a ‘doom drone’ project from Canada. While owing a lot to the aesthetics of bands like Sunn O))), Blakkr Nið is a solo project that does not focus exclusively on the stasis of the drone, but also offers some melodic approaches and even some rhythmic riffing as well.

The guitar sound is embedded into layers of electronic textures and sometimes also glitch-like noises, as if transferred from an old tape. This deliberately crafted low-fi sound world, particularly in the track “And The Light Came,” greatly enhances the overall feel of desolation and mourning that the music conveys, like a musical endgame (in Beckett’s sense) found on a disappeared person’s last tape.
