released October 12, 2014

Recorded on three consecutive dates of a tour in May 2014, this triple live album features three live sets played by EMERGE in three different constellations. This release is beautiful evidence that the ‘free impro’ magic more often than not yields surprising new results by bringing new people together, even though EMERGE restricted the choice of his sound material to the same pool of samples in all three sets.

On the first track, EMERGE meets musique concrète duo Das Unpreetzise Klang-Labor (who have a beautiful release of their own out on attenuation circuit), and their amplified objects and microsounds make a nice complement to EMERGE’s more laminar textures. In another trio, drone electronics artist Gerald Fiebig and violinist Don Vomp join EMERGE for a dark, deeply droning set in which Vomp’s distorted fiddle at times adds a wonderfully intense ‘rock’ vibe. The third set is just EMERGE and Don Vomp, and here they bring out a more abstract, more metallically noisy vibe with a dynamic completely different from the previous set.
